Getting your test results

If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

  • in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • in your SystmOnline account
  • by phoning us on 01242 519049, test results are available via the telephone between the hours of 2pm and 5pm by choosing option 1 when you call in. Please do not call outside of these times.
  • as a text message, if you have consented and it is applicable

If the result is abnormal it is likely that you will be contacted but it is best to ring if you have not heard and have no other follow-up arranged. The receptionists do not have any medical training but can tell you what the doctor has said about the result and, if abnormal, arrange a time for you to discuss this with the doctor. It is a requirement of employment that the confidentiality of patients’ records is maintained at the highest level by all staff.

Do not assume the practice will contact you with an abnormal result. It is a requirement of employment that the confidentiality of patients’ records is maintained at the highest level by all staff.
